Principal
Kimberly Hulitt-Griggs
Jackson Public Schools appointed Kimberly Hulitt-Griggs to lead Galloway Elementary School as its new principal for the 2025-2026 school year. That being her 23rd year in education, she spent the past five years devoted to school administration, each year proudly served as a member of Team JPS. Her journey in education began in 2002 at Oak Forest Elementary, where she worked as a kindergarten and second-grade instructional assistant. Since then, Ms. Griggs has held a range of impactful roles including fourth and fifth-grade ELA teacher, K–5 instructional interventionist, assistant principal at Clausell, John Hopkins, and Sykes Elementary Schools, interim principal at McLeod Elementary, and currently serves as the principal of Sykes Elementary School.
A native of Jackson, Mississippi, Ms. Griggs completed her high school education at Richland Attendance Center in Richland, MS. She is a proud graduate of Thee Jackson State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology with an emphasis in Computer Technology, a Master of Arts in Teaching, and most recently, a Specialist Degree in Educational Administration K–12, completed in December 2023. She also completed leadership training through the Mississippi Alternate Path to Quality School Leadership (MAPQSL).
Ms. Griggs is deeply passionate about teaching and learning. She believes that all children deserve access to coherent systems of curriculum, instruction, and assessment that reflect the mission, vision, and core values of the Jackson Public School District. A champion of high academic standards and culturally responsive practices, Ms. Griggs embodies the belief that “Greatness is in our DNA.” Her guiding motto is: “We are a Rainbow of Possibilities—Let’s Make Every Day Count!”
